Week 8:Remix Culture-Poem

deep into the quiet Park

Tai Bui, 1996-

Are you sad in your heart?

Do you feel loneliness hitting your chest and your mind?

Then come away, come to the peaceful park,

Here was your mind in silence. Listen! Now,

From the soul of loneliness

Do you feel free, happy, and relief?

They are above, around within you, everywhere.

Close your eye! Clear, and still more clear, they arrive.

They gather up your strengths, and concentrate to it.

Now let your mind become free from any struggle

Until, someone come to wake you up,

Let your mind for into deep sleep and enjoy,

The peaceful in your environment

And stay free.

Deep in the Quiet Wood

James Weldon Johnson, 18711928

Are you bowed down in heart?
Do you but hear the clashing discords and the din of life?
Then come away, come to the peaceful wood,
Here bathe your soul in silence. Listen! Now,
From out the palpitating solitude
Do you not catch, yet faint, elusive strains?
They are above, around, within you, everywhere.
Silently listen! Clear, and still more clear, they come.
They bubble up in rippling notes, and swell in singing tones.
Now let your soul run the whole gamut of the wondrous scale
Until, responsive to the tonic chord,
It touches the diapason of God’s grand cathedral organ,
Filling earth for you with heavenly peace
And holy harmonies.

The risks in which others can use the same things you’ve created and use it as their own to make it even better. Empowerment can be in  a way to express the author in the poem giving us the authority to fix or remix their poem with hope that we can create something more fascinate then they did. For example, the recent trends on the internet worldwide called “the dress”. It was known that the dress was a picture of copy and paste images over and over. Additionally, people kept changing the dress and edited to many different cartoon character. I remembered one that people used with African American female and dressed her with blue, and American female and dress her with gold. The owner of the picture taken didn’t even knew it was going trending worldwide in a few hours sparking a new controversy about what colors we all see.
The license I have chosen today is public domain because it is free for everyone who can edit and remix the poem to make it better and make the poem more beautiful like Jame Johnson did in his poem. The original poem was established in the 1917 and since then there’s has been a lot of of people viewing this poem. Copyright sometimes can be used to strengthen an artist work but not all the time because it limited the idea of other people can provide to the writer and artist to make it even more beautiful. It is working at it is but someone can find a way to take it and make it their own. My version of remix was just change the poem into my own  poem  by using the same ideas and concept but change the whole meaning from being in a quiet wood to a quiet park which was near my house and through my experience sitting under the free alone in the morning and it seem different at noon. It was at first challenging because I don’t know what to make it more f the same and better. It was quite a challenge to make a remix because there was a lot of thinking that going on when remixing. On the flip side, thank to the activities I had a chance to remix something that I didn’t hear from other and being able to do it and describing it is the best part.
